Fabulous Spring Term Performance

Apr10

Soul of the City Choir not only blew the audience away at both our end of year Spring performances – we also raised an impressive total amount for our chosen charities!

In Hassocks we raised £201 and were singing for “Sing For Better Health” and in Brighton it was £372.02 for “Extra Time

We are very lucky to have such generous and supportive audiences and thank you to both choirs for giving SUCH an uplifting performance! A true testament to our incredible hard work over the 12 week terms, we should be very proud.

And a little treat for you all – here is the camera work of one of our Brighton audience members – “We Found Love” filmed at the Clarendon Centre..

Enjoy..

All Male or All Female choirs?

Nov11

At Soul of the City Choir we’re proud to be a mixed choir. But the trend for all male or all female choirs is definitely booming, with acts like Only Men Aloud.

Here are two famous examples:

Which do you prefer? (not that it should be a competition)

Or maybe you think they should both just mix it up a bit!

Drinking Water

Oct25

Vanessa always tells you how important it is to drink water for your singing voice, here’s a good article that explains why!

Calculate how much water you need to drink with this handy tool.

Even pros like Adele can over work their voice, so its a good idea to take care of it when singing in a choir.

Happy singing!

New Term Starting January – A fantastic Christmas gift!

Dec10

Singing is amazing, especially to ward away wintery January blues, why not join us for our next term?

We offer 1 free taster session to every new member!

The teaching style is friendly and fun, there are no requirements to read music, no auditions and you’ll be given all you parts and lyrics so you can just let go and sing.

We think that everyone can sing and complete beginners, shower singers and pros are all welcome!

We now offer gift vouchers of different values, so for the people in your life who just love to use their vocal chords whether it be in the shower, along to karaoke, blasting it out with SingStar or at an open mic night, why not treat them to a term with Soul of the City? Please contact us at soulofthecitychoir@live.com for further details. Vanessa, our choir leader, also offers private vocal tuition for those who want to take their singing further.

Brighton choir will be singing again from Tuesday the 8th January and Hassocks will be singing again from Wednesday 9th January.  The first couple of sessions of the term will be open for new members to try as tasters, please contact us to book your place on a taster or in the choir or for more information.

If you’d like to see the choir in action come along to one of our Christmas charity gigs, they’re always fantastic fun (see previous blog post for all the details).
