This weekend we will be singing at the brilliant Paddle Round the Pier Festival.
We think Paddle really encapsulates the spirit of Brighton, celebrating music and culture as well as the wonders of Brighton beach and the water sports on offer! To top all that off its free! It is held at Hove Lawns and it is highly recommended by us as the best way to spend your weekend.
If you want to see Soul of the City singing by the sea our Hassocks choir will be singing on Saturday 7th July at 10.45 am, and our Brighton choir will be singing on Sunday 8th, also at 10.45!
For more information go to the Paddle website at: http://www.paddleroundthepier.com/
Hopefully the choir won’t wreck any ships with their siren songs….
We are really excited for our Summer Concert on Saturday the 14th July, which is rapidly approaching now! It will be the second time that both our Hassocks and Brighton choir come together to sing in one big concert at Hove Town Hall.
For those of you that aren’t in the choir, and I’m sure the choir will agree, you are in for a treat! The set list this term is fabulous, and both of the choirs have been putting their all into the songs- they sound so brilliant already! You can buy tickets online at: https://www.brightonticketshop.com/Online/default.asp or from the Brighton Dome Ticket Office. Doors open at 6.30pm, get there early to nab a seat at the front!
We are hoping that we will be able to sing in the sunshine, and lift everyone’s spirits higher for the summer months. (Spot the song clues?)
Check out our very stylish poster for the event:
Thanks to John Whitty at Blacklight Design for the brilliant poster!
Make a date for your diary – Saturday 24th March! We are bring both the Brighton and Hassock choirs together for a special evening of singing in the fabulous venue of Hove Town Hall.
or from Brighton Ticket Office, 29 New Road Brighton
This term’s charities are The Crypt Cafe and Childhelp, we can’t wait to raise money for these fantastic charities.
The show starts at 7pm (with doors 6.30pm) – we hope to see you there!
Finally we are out of winter, heavy coats can go back in the cupboard as spring is finally here. Spring is associated with change and the start of something new, so with that in mind I thought it would be the perfect time to launch the brand new Soul of the City website!
All the previous information and news will still be here, but we’ve added a host of new features so that, like the choir itself, you can get involved!
Over the coming months I will be adding all the news as well as photos, videos and audio track from our latest gigs – all of which you can comment on and share with others.
