We’re back – and busier than ever!

Great to be back singing this term and what a busy couple of weeks it’s been.

Clearly everyone has made a New Year’s resolution to make singing part of their lives – and what better resolution could you make?  Our Brighton choir completely filled to bursting in just 2 weeks and with some great songs from Imagine Dragons, Reef and Massive Attack it’s no surprise!  It’s going to be a stormer of a term.

There are still places left in our Hassocks choir though so if you still have that resolution to sort out, do get in touch with us to book on to the last taster next week (Wednesday 24th)  You’ll be so glad you did!

Nearly time to sing again, hooray!

After a little summer break we’ll be back again in September and can’t wait!

You might think that you can’t sing but we think that you can  - you just need to love to sing – why not give it a try!?

Brighton Choir starts on Tuesday 15th September (as above)

Hassocks Choir starts on Wednesday 16th September (Downlands School, Dale Ave, Hassocks)

See you there!

Second week back and we’ve nearly finished a song…brilliant work everyone!!

Here’s a lovely little quote we found that really is so true and sums up how we feel here at Soul of the City!!

“If everyone started off the day singing, just think how happy they’d be.”
― Lauren MyracleShine

It’s so great to have everyone back and this term’s song choices are going to sound AMAZING when “we’ve nailed them”.

Next week Vanessa will be posting some vocal warm ups for you to do at home…but in the meantime we found these and although they made me laugh a little they are actually quite good:

Merry Christmas from Soul of the City Choir

Hello everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying the Christmas break. Both the Hassocks and Brighton choirs did a brilliant job at our Christmas concert, they sang beautifully to a sold out audience.

Don’t forget the Brighton choir starts back on the 7th January and Hassocks on the 8th January.

We still have spaces in the choir and we’ll be running free tasters, so if you know anyone who loves to sing pass the message on!

Taster dates: Brighton Tuesday 7th, 14th and 21st January.

Hassocks Wednesday 8th, 15th and 22nd January.

Here’s a little Youtube clip of Brighton singing Blackbird at our Christmas Concert, filmed by an audience member.

Great Start to Term (plus some inspiration!)

Hi everyone,

It has been a great start to term so far, the atmosphere is really buzzing! Its great to see some new faces in the choir, as well as returning members, we can tell already that you guys are going to rock! This term in Brighton we’re using the Pentatonix’s version of Somebody That I Used to Know for inspiration (check out that video here)

But we’ve also been blown away by there evolution of music video, just proves that group singing is timeless. Take a look!

We are running one more taster in Brighton tomorrow, Tuesday 7th May and one more in Hassocks on Wednesday 15th May. So if you find singing inspiring why not come along and try it for yourself!

Sing in the end of Summer, what better way to avoid the autumn blues?!

After a super Summer term and our end of term show in July adding some sparkle and twinkle to the warm months it’s time to sing in a new term!!

Our Choir term will be starting on Tuesday 11th September singing until Tuesday 4th December.

If you’ve never experienced the amazing feeling of singing in a choir, come along.  I have been singing pretty much all my life and I have to say, singing is a brilliant thing to do! It makes you smile, it can make you shiver and tingle (in a good way), it builds confidence, is a great way to meet new people and if that’s not enough, it’s great fun!

We give you everything you need (lyrics, vocal parts and, if you like, music too – NB music reading is not required) just come along and enjoy!

Join us for a fantastic term of singing, contact us for further details.

See you soon!

Join in, leave comments, share with friends…

Finally we are out of winter, heavy coats can go back in the cupboard as spring is finally here. Spring is associated with change and the start of something new, so with that in mind I thought it would be the perfect time to launch the brand new Soul of the City website!

All the previous information and news will still be here, but we’ve added a host of new features so that, like the choir itself, you can get involved!

Over the coming months I will be adding all the news as well as photos, videos and audio track from our latest gigs – all of which you can comment on and share with others.
